New River Ramblers
The New River Ramblers play traditional Cajun music. The Cajuns are descendants of French settlers living around the swamps and bayous of Louisiana. Their music has influences of Blues, Country and Folk music, but it is not quite like anything else. Tim Rutherford (Cajun accordion) and Madeleine Doherty (fiddle) are organisers of London’s File’ Gumbo Cajun Music Club and frequent visitors to music camps in Louisiana. Andy Kilmartin (guitar), the “international troubadour ” , has performed solo and in bands in the UK, Ireland, Chile and across Europe.
Cajun music is for dancing and partying. As the Cajuns say “laissez les Bon temps rouler “.
